Bald Is Beautiful – Celebrities Who Are Bald

nm portman ssv Bald Is Beautiful Celebrities Who Are Bald

I wrote recently about bald women and how inspiring I find some of them. I really do believe that bald is beautiful, and the only real problem is that we aren’t all used to seeing bald women. In fact, if I decided today I was going to shave my head people would probably assume I was crazy (a bit like Britney Spears). But why should it be?

I have had this page bookmarked for ages and meant to post about it. I found a collection of photographs of bald celebrities, and I really do think they prove the point ‘bald is beautiful’:

Just click here to view the ‘Bald Is Beautiful’ gallery at the ABC news website.

These women may not be completely bald, but even having your hair that short can be extremely daring for a woman. I do imagine how free it must feel, but I am so attached to my hair. I wish I wasn’t.

Just wanted to thank you for writing/creating this. I’ve been thinking about shaving my head lately and this was a positive reinforcement (which is tough to come by, seeing as how a majority of our society has the vanity of a woman’s hair wrapped around it’s fingers) :o ) Thank you

I have never shaved my head – I am too scared of what people think. I wish hair wasn’t so close to a woman’s identity, and I don’t believe it should be. It is a fantasy of mine to shave my hair off. Maybe one day I’ll get the guts to do it?

      Summer,
I’m 20 and I’ve had trich since I was 13. I shaved my head today. I was tired of the hats, the wigs, the bandanas, and the looks. I came to a point where i knew I needed to love myself for me whether I had hair or not. I cannot describe the deep sense of freedom that passed through me as I shaved the rest of my hair off. I am scared, yes, of what today will bring..but I know that in the future it will only make me stronger. I wish you the best of luck with defeating you trich. I honestly believe this will work for me.

After a really crazy 2008 where I finally rid myself of childhood demons, I shaved my head. It was so liberating. If you are scared to do it because you are worried what other people will think of you, think again. Honestly, I have gained a lot of respect from people for doing it. I let it grow out for about 11 months, when it finally got to where it was when I cut it, and then I cut it again. Although this time not as short. Only 7/8″ instead of 1/4″.

I believe when women shave their heads it sends a more powerful message than most realize. It says to me that I’m strong, I don’t need to conform to the social norms that popular society puts in front of me. In addition the bald hairstyle puts more emphasis on the eyes which almost always puts forth the inner strength that women have.

Agree.. i wish if i can shave my head! all i can is to cut it so short like 7 cm and that’s it although my parents don’t like it but i don’t care.

I could talk about this topic FOEVER!
I shaved my head, after wanting to do it for a long time, in 2007. I was 19 and in college. It was the the best thing I’ve ever done for myself! As odd as it sounds, it really forced me to be…me. You can always tone down your makeup, change your clothing, etc…but this was so honest. I woke up some mornings, dreading to go to class…but the majority of the days I wore my bald head proud and it felt so good and so strong.
It did create some major tension between me and my family. I’m very close with them so that part was super painful (my extended family and friends were fine with it! At least to my face…) But sometimes things need to come to surface and be dealt with. Can’t live for others your whole life! And these kinds of things, in our apperance obsessed culture (esp for women), tend to bring out the true colors of people. Yourself included.

So if you’re thinking about it, I’d say gp for it ladies. I highly recommend it.
Sorry for the bit of rambling!

Sou – I know, I feel like my friends and family would also think it looks bad. One day I’ll have the courage to do it!

Unfortunately I sometimes talk about it to my friends and they say it would be wrong and would look bad. I know that it doesn’t matter what they think, but it still holds me back :(

If this is any help, speaking as a male, I find women with ultra short hair (or even sporting a shaved head) very attractive. A beautiful woman with hair is just as beautiful without…..

My mother doesn’t approve, and strangers have rudely asked if I have cancer (as if its any of their business?!), but I love the convenience and the statement it makes about non-conformity. I have also really noticed that it brings the focus to my eyes, and that suddenly, larger earrings look good on me!
