I'm really of the mind, looking back, that the 'cure' comes with a reduction in stress/anxiety. Of course, I am only really referring to my own experience in this case. I was quite unsettled when I started my hair-pulling and as the situation around me became calmer, so I gradually stopped. I'm a little sceptical of 'cures' based on anything other than self-acceptance, as I honestly think that that's how things get better. Otherwise the stress of pulling makes the pulling worse..

I've had trich since I was age 6, and at age 52, I have found no cures. I've tried hypnotherapy and counseling. Ultimately, what has given me the most peace is self-acceptance.

Recently I launched a new website of audio podcasts for hair pullers. You can download the 7 to 8 minute podcast to you iPod and listen to the soothing and comforting message. I don't promise a cure, although I hope by listening to the message it will provide enough comfort to help a hair puller stop, even if for only the day. A free message is available to download at www.DosesOfComfort.com.
