When I first started this blog I wanted to do so simply as a way of spreading the word about hair pulling. Trichotillomania is such a horrible disorder, mainly because so many of us have it and don’t even know that we are actually normal! This is why, if you have a story to tell, I would love to hear it.
One thing I have learnt since I started blogging about trichotillomania, over a year ago, is that each and every one of us is different. I’m always blogging about my ideas on hair pulling, but I know that some of you don’t always agree and not everything works for all of us.
I absolutely love reading your comments and replying to you when I have time. But if you have a story to tell then feel free to post it on this blog! Anyone can register here, and if you want to make a post I’ll upgrade your account so that you can do that.
Don’t worry about whether you’re a good writer – that doesn’t matter! It’s important for all of us to work together to get the word out about trichotillomania.
Just contact me if you have a story to tell. I will be so grateful
and so will many others who’ve never heard of this disorder.

My name's Penny, and I started OnTrich (a trichotillomania blog) to try and raise awareness about hair pulling, and also as a way to help me deal with my own pulling. I'm a 23 year old girl from the UK and I've been pulling for 13 years. Get in touch if you want to chat or need any help - I love meeting people here.

i used to be a hair puller. i guess it started about 5 years old.. i have been reading different websites about it now that i have gotten older. my family or i never knew why i did it. in the websites that i have looked at have not exactly explained what i used to do. i pulled my hair, but instead of putting it in my mouth i would stick it in my nose. i had a huge bald spot on my head for years.. i have stopped pulling my hair out now, but i still tug at it just hard enough to where i dont pull it out. i still dont fully understand why i do this. i have always been curious about this, and was wondering if anyone else out there has any similar stories?
Thank you for posting your story. I think that putting it in your nose is probably just a different way of playing with the hair, instead of touching it to the lips. I’m glad you managed to stop pulling, it’s definitely a great achievement. Did you do something to stop, or did it just happen on it’s own?
Thanks for visiting.
