How to help others with Trichotillomania #3

POSTED BY: mspennylane

Approaching them: If you have noticed a loved one pulling and they haven’t spoken to you, it might be worth approaching them about it. This may be a really embarrassing moment for them, though knowing you have heard of the condition and do not judge them but love them anyway will ultimately be a great help. They may not have even heard that it is a condition themselves: they may feel they are the only one doing it. If you let them know that they are normal, this will be a huge weight off their shoulders. However, always remember that they might just not want to talk about it.

This is part three of a series of posts every Saturday on how to help people who have trich… This can also be found at Marmalade Skies, my personal blog.

I went to school with someone who did this. She had a small bald patch behind her ears and told me that she did it because she was stressed. I never asked her about her stress, she didn’t seem to want to talk about it.

It would be very hard to ask anyone about their problem. Everyone is different, and there is usually a period of time before most people will want to talk about it, even on forums. At least you know what the condition is, thanks for leaving a comment.
