I have heard from a number of sources that hynotherapy can be used as a treatment for trichotillomania. I have never tried it for various reasons (the cost, fear of actively going out and asking for it and so on), but I have had a look online and it is always a possibility in the future.
As well as hypnotherapists who advertise trichotillomania as something they can help with, there are a number of downloads available to purchase on the internet.
Some of the websites claim that trichotillomania is like biting nails, and in a lot of ways it can be. Indeed in many cases trichotillomania is described as a ‘habit’. But what if it isn’t a habit? It could be down to genes, completely unconscious uurges, or a response to stress. And for many of us it is probably a mixture of these causes.
I would certainly say that curing trichotillomania is more than breaking a habit. For these reasons I really don’t know how well a generic download would work, but it must be worth a try?

there are hypnosis downloads on mp3 available for $12.95. There is also a more expensive alternative called ‘the Linden Method’. Much pricier however the testimonials are numerous and from highly authoritative sources.
