There are so many support sites out there for trichotillomania, if you know where to look. That can be really hard for people who don’t even know the word trichotillomania! But luckily, organisations like the Trichotillomania Learning Centre (TLC) are trying to change that.
What Is The Trichotillomania Learning Centre?
According to the Trichotillomania Learning Centre website, their mission is to…
[transform] the lives of sufferers and their families by providing hope, support, and recovery.
It’s not all just about finding a trichotillomania cure, but by knowing you aren’t alone and learning to accept hair pulling as part of who you are.
What Information Do They Provide?
The Trichotillomania Learning Centre has a lot of useful pages both about hair pulling (trichotillomania) and skin-picking (dermatillomania) and the two conditions are often seen to be quite closely related.
They also provide treatment resources and a centre search for those who are in the US.
One of the main campaigns of the Trichotillomania Learning Centre revolves around ‘trichotillomania awareness week’ which is in October in the US. A variety of activities and even a trichotillomania retreat are put together to help coincide with all these aims.
Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be such an organised body for trichotillomania here in the UK. Let’s hope that one day there will be a recognised charity. Now that would be a place I would like to volunteer for!

The Trichotillomania Learning Centre is a great website. well worth reading through!
