I was very surprised to see that there’s a trichotillomania documentary showing on Channel 4 tonight in the UK. It’s called “Girls on the Pull” and starts at 7.30pm, on for 30 minutes. I probably won’t get time to watch it tonight but I’ll catch up soon. I hope it helps to raise awareness! I was glad to see it there in the TV guide, I hope lots of people tune in.

I was really quite excited to see this programme, but was left feeling quite angry and dissapointed that it only talked about pulling from the scalp, i have pulled since i was 5 from lashes and brows! dont get me wrong i am pleased that they have raised some kind of awareness on this, but really would of liked to see them at least mention that it affects other areas! i have read that some people pull of their pubic areas, arm pits, arms etc, even their pets.
I really didn’t like the program. I wasn’t expecting it to work miracles with my famiy… But I felt it didn’t help. The program almost suggested that this woman’s hair/wig clinic was the solution and that it would stop the hair pulling… It didn’t mention anything about how trich can be eyebrows, eyelashes etc AND that men have it too…
I felt very angry when the program finished… It’s great that trich has had some recognition, but the program was badly researched and gave the wrong ideas etc about what trich was and how easy it is to deal with once diagnosed….
